Basque Festival

Annual Basque Festivals have been an integral part of sects of the diaspora not only remembering their culture but sharing it with others as well. These festivals have become an important example of exoteric culture throughout the Western United States; although, ironically, it has no direct predecessor in the Basque homeland of Catalonia. Regional Basque festivals in Elko, Nevada and other cities have become meeting points for many different cultures, practically becoming a major ritual for the culture of the city (and surrounding region) itself. This give-and-take nature has its roots in the adaptive, communal roots of the traditional Basque way of life.
